Abstract

The development of global popular culture has become an integral part of today's youth. One of the most prominent phenomena is K-Pop (Korean Pop), which is not only popular for its music but also permeates the lifestyle, language, and even mindset of its fans. Among students, enthusiasm for K-Pop often becomes a part of their identity, but it also raises concerns that it could displace the moral values, local culture, and ethics that should be the foundation of adolescent life. This study aims to determine the impact of K-Pop culture on the morals of students at SMAN 2 Indramayu. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects were students who actively enjoy K-Pop, along with an Islamic Religious Education teacher who served as a resource person. The study found that students' interest in K-Pop has increased since the pandemic, impacting their clothing styles, foreign language use, and mindsets, as well as decreasing interest in local culture and religious activities. However, some positive impacts were also found, such as increased motivation to learn foreign languages and increased artistic creativity. Teachers view balanced and Islamic-based guidance as crucial for students to maintain self-control and maintain their Muslim identity. This study concludes that K-Pop culture has a dual positive and negative impact on students' morals. Therefore, teachers, parents, and the school community need to actively guide students to uphold moral and religious values amidst the rapid flow of global culture.
